“Psychosomatic Phenomena and Structural Diagnosis – A Case Study”
The general axis for this Seminars for 2014/16 will be -in line with the forthcoming WAP Congress in Rio- “Language and the Body“.
GustavoDessal will speak, through a case study, of psychosomatic phenomena and how are they conceptualised from a Lacanian perspective. He will explore the functions that a psychosomatic phenomenon can take up in different clinical structures, in particular with regards to the differential diagnosis between hysteria and psychosis.
Gustavo Dessal is a psychoanalyst in Madrid. He is an Analyst Member (AME) of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis (ELP) and of the World Association of Psychoanalysis (WAP). He teaches at the Institute of the Freudian Field. He is also an acclaimed fiction writer. In 2014 he published “The Return of the Pendulum”, co-authored with Zygmunt Bauman.
